Trying To Remember Im At Narita
Trying to remember I'm at the Narita International Airport right now waiting for my flight to Honolulu. I realized I haven't blogged in a while and missed the chance to write about some interesting experiences while they were still fresh on my mind. I'm going to try and just write down things that I remember which I haven't posted. Note to self: Choose a different internet kiosk next time, one far away from the Japanese aiport assistant ladies who are constantly announcing something in a high-pitched voice in which I can not understand. Oh yeah, that damn moving escalator walk-way thing with its robotic lady saying "amunashi-something-something-mushi-sushi...(Japanese) The end of the walk is ahead, please watch your step." every 5 seconds is also annoying as hell! Well I think I'll just write about the things that I can remember most clearly, things that have happened today. I met up with my parents at this airport and we decided to get some food. I got the cold soba dish, it was good, but it had a piece of glass in it! Now I didn't want to be racist but being Chinese, my first instinct was "those Japanese are trying to get me because I'm Chinese!" I was just going to put it aside and finish my food as usual but then my mom wanted to point it out. She showed the Japanese guy the glass and he immediately took the plate away from me while I was still eating it. After coming back and getting down on one knee and apologizing to us over and over, he brought back a new soba dish for me and refunded my money. If I had a dollar for everytime he said "I'm veely sorry" I would be able to sit here at this internet kiosk till my flight takes off but now I only have 20 minutes left. I was quite impressed and I have to admit that the servers in Chinese restaurants can learn a few from them. They don't take complaints very well, but I think thats because most of the people are constantly complaining and they have just learned to tune it out. I'm flying World Business Class this time, for the first time. I took the opportunity to go upstairs and check out the NWA "club" for people who fly a lot of and people who are in business class. Its nothing really to be excited about, just a nice quiet place with a lot of comfy things to sit on and free wireless internet but I don't have my charger with me so I can't take advantage of it and need to pay to use this crappy internet kiosk at an outrageous $1/hour! Anyway, I think if I was here with some of my buddies we could really utilize that vip room. They've got wine, liquor, pop and beer, all flowing freely and endlessly! Yeah, if some of you guys were here, and maybe we're a little younger, we could really have a good time. During my stay in Xiamen, I saw two fights! One of them I saw the whole thing start and end. When I was leaving the building where my dad "works", a guy (Skinny Dude) was calling out to another guy saying "Why did you push me in the elevator?" The other guy (Pusher) comes up to him, gives him a mean look and punches him in the eye. My aunt who was with me at the time immediately tried to break it up and get the Pusher and his friend into the elevator and to where they were going. But Skinny Dude would not have none of it. He taunts the Pusher and his buddy out and starts talking more stuff. Pretty soon both these guys are on their cell phones for some reason. The Pusher and his buddy then try to leave via a taxi cab but the Skinny Dude says "Hey come back, I want to talk this over with you." Then all of a sudden, 5 or 6 guys get out of the elevator and run outside to where the Pusher and his friend are and start beating the crap out of them. There was a lot of punching and kicking and a lot of people watching, it was hillarious. The Pusher deserved to get his ass kicked for being such a dumbass in the first place. The second time I saw a fight was when my mom, Amanda and I were taking a walk after eating a lot during dinner. I saw some guys kicking around in the middle of the street and at first it looked like they were messing around because the kicking was pretty sissy but then it started to look real. One of the guys fell down and the other starts punching him while he's on the ground. Pretty soon some people run out to help the one on the ground and first guy takes off running. But he ran towards us! At first I was waiting to see if he stole something so I could tackle him but he just ran with nothing, I think he just pissed off some people. Later I thought about it and I think it probably wouldn't have been too smart for me to try and take him on if he had been a burglar because he was big, bigger than me, I think. Well at least his air was longer than him and you know you don't want to mess with that. I can't remember too much expect for that we took a trip to Zhangping and lived in a cabin for a night and we also stayed at this awesome hotel by the hotel for a night in Xiamen. The trip to Zhangping was really cool because we went to this national park that my dad's friend was building. The place is really great and like I said, has waterfalls and mountains and all this nice nature stuff. But the point is that it was hell trying to get there. The road we took was shut off because of a rock slide so we had to take a 40 min detour. The detour was the worse thing I've ever ridden through. It was 40 minutes of non-stop driving through terrain that was more bumpy than speed bumps. If you can imagine driving a constant 35-40 over constant and unpedictable speed bumps trying to keep up with the car ahead of you. On top of that, you're driving on a side of a mountain, there were no fences to stop you if your car drove off the ledge. The width was is about one and half of our normal lane width and we were passing big construction trucks on the outside! It was scary as hell and bumpy as hell at the same time, for 40 mins straight! I almost puked several times, I couldn't even think, all I did was try to sing some Chinese songs. When we finally got to the place, the park was pretty much closed and it was hot and muggy. I was sweaty as hell and knew there we were going to stay in a cabin. This being China's countryside, I didn't have much faith in their cabins. But when we got to our cabin, it blew me away! It was nicer than a hotel room! It had a living room, a nice bedroom, clean bathroom and airconditioning unit! Our group of 8 split up into groups of 2 and went to our lakeside cabins with big smiles. Oh yeah, they had fridges with fruits and cold drinks ready. It was just such a stark constrast from the whole countryside driving and countryside houses. I have pictures and stuff but I only have two minutes left so I'm going to end it here and write more later!
